This song and performance is dedicated to my teacher, Jamie Faunt, who passed away unexpectedly in July of 2013. The Bill Evans version of this song was stuck on repeat on Jamie's computer in his house for days after his passing.
I wanted to try to capture the mood of that day in the performance, as well as incorporate free time rhythms. I have great memories of working on free time exercises with Jamie (among many other things), and he always said free time has the potential to be the most soulful.
